Dispatches from Iowa
Like email correspondence and exercise, my Tumblr-posting habits have been pretty spotty lately. I’ve been writing, especially over the past couple months, but it’s mostly work-related, reflective babble, uninteresting to anyone but me.
So, I thought it was time for another dispatch. The last, as I recall, was around Christmas, from Wisconsin, but a lot’s changed since then.
For one, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a couple more Tumblr folks at Busch stadium, and that was a wonderful, Missouri-hot day.
And though I’m dispatching from Iowa, I’m writing this in a different apartment; Sam and I moved in to this great place close enough to Downtown to walk to work, but far enough away to sleep quietly at night. We’ve got wood floors, a spare bedroom-cum-office, an awesome cat, and a gas stove. And I’ve got the best roommate.
I’m also writing this with a different job, and a sweet bio page to boot. (I don’t quite know why my second title is “Corn Husker” and I wouldn’t frown on alternative suggestions.) I get to work with some of the most talented, hard-working developers, designers, and managers I’ve ever met. It’s been equal parts crazy and awesome, and I continue to learn how little I actually know about “software engineering,” and all the moving parts within.
But, it is time for bed. Been waking up at six lately, and this morning I had a thought that if I wake up a mere ten minutes earlier, I could squeeze in a run every morning before hitting the shower and meeting the day. We’ll see.
